Christmas Wonderland 2015: Four Tickets to Christmas
This dramatic musical follows the escapades of an out-of-work family performing group who find themselves unexpectedly spending Christmas in a small rural town in Ohio, where the entire family learns the importance of following God’s unique direction for their lives. By Christmas Eve they’ve turned the town upside down—and some of their own relationships around. “It’s a season of beginnings,” and that includes beginning and restoring a relationship with the Savior whose birth is being celebrated.

This is a camp designed to help students learn scales, trills, rhythms, and flute fundamentals that we do not always have time for in lessons.
Consider it a flute workout....Flute Boot Camp!
But...Molly will make it fun with activities, ensemble work and group challenges.
If you are unsure if this camp would be right for your child, ask them:
-if they know all their notes yet
-if they know all their scales or five-note patterns fluently
-if they can play scales or five-note patterns from memory
-if they know all the trills
-if they can leap
and jump from note to note without any little “blips” in their sound
-if they have trouble staying in tune in band
-if they understand rhythms or play with a steady pulse easily
-if they practice on a regular basis or know how to practice in a concentrated, goal-oriented way
-if they can play any song without many mistakes that they previously learned in their book
-if they can play songs with lots of sharps!
If they cannot do many of these things, this camp would be very helpful to them.
If you are STILL unsure if this camp would be right for your child, take note of how they practice:
-Are they practicing much at all?
-Do they skip days of practice?
Are they concentrating while they practice? or just running through a few things and putting the book away?
-Do they seem to be trying to learn things and fix mistakes, or do they get frustrated easily and only play what they already know?
Consider this camp a fun practice session,
to augment what they are doing at home, and to teach them how to practice well.
You asked for it, you got it!
This camp was suggested and requested by the members of the fall flute ensemble, who enjoyed learing Christmas trios and quartets so much that they asked for a summer camp with a Christmas theme!
This camp will be designed for intermediate to advanced students to help them get ready for Christmas well before their lives get busy with school, marching band and district auditions. They will have an opportunity to and explore a variety of beautifully arranged solo and ensemble pieces that they can continue to learn throughout fall with their friends or with an ensemble.
Many of Molly's students were asked to perform at Christmastime in their churches and family parties, yet they did not have the time to prepare some great pieces. This camp will allow students to have a headstart in learning what they might want to play at Christmas. Suggestions and opportunities to purchase music, some at a reduced price, will be provided at the end of camp, after exploring what each student would like to play.
Camp participants will be practicing flute ensemble music together and have opportunities to play solo works, if desired. This camp will provide ample time for students to work on flute skills such as:
A concert will be given to friends and family following camp.
HO HO HO! Don't worry, we will have some Christmas fun, too! Stockings..cookies....decorations...! Join us and see what fun we can have this Christmas in July!
